Exam Information

Overview

The course in Advanced Nutritarian Studies has two parts. In part one you will be tested on the fundamentals of nutrition and in part two Dr. Fuhrman's preventative and therapeutic Nutritarian diet style based on smart nutrition. The parts are explained in greater detail below.

Practice Quizzes

It is highly recommended that you pass each practice quiz with 100% before proceeding to the official exam. You may take each practice quiz as many times as you wish for free. Your results on practice quizzes do not effect your official grade. When you are done, you can access your results by going to "My Account > Quiz Results."  Your actual exam results and missed questions are available there as well.

Exam topics, reading, formats, and time limits

Part 1: The Basics

Overview: Part 1 of the exam is titled, "The Basics."  This portion of the exam will test you on the fundamental concepts of nutrition. After studying the reading materials below you will have a firm grasp on what is being taught in today's leading nutrition classes. A significant amount of time should be invested in the reading materials before attempting this part of the exam.

For specific chapters and pages to read in the above books visit this page.  The exam is offered in open-book format, however knowing where to find the answers quickly will be necessary to complete the exam on time.

Time Limit: 100 minutes

Format: Multiple Choice

Number of Questions: 60

Grading: Results displayed upon completion; passing score 80%

Part 2: Dr. Fuhrman's Body of Knowledge

Overview: Part 2 of the exam is titled, "Dr. Fuhrman's Body of Knowledge." This portion of the exam will test you on information from all of the required books by Dr. Fuhrman as well as non-published material included in the Student Handbook such as Dr. Fuhrman's Healthy Times newsletters and Position Papers, articles, toxic hunger tutorial and select scientific literature. A significant amount of time should be invested in the reading materials before attempting this part of the exam.

Time Limit: 100 minutes

Format:

  • Multiple Choice
  • Multiple Multiple Choice (one or more answers may be required if you see square checkboxes)

Number of Questions: 60

Grading: Results displayed upon completion; passing score 80%

Completion Time Frame

You may take both exam parts at once or pace yourself with days, weeks and months. Students are provided with 6 months access to the course. Both exams must be completed within this 6 month timeframe. See our policies page for more information. 

You may re-take the exam as many times as necessary to pass provided you pay the retake fee.

Suggestions for Success

Knowing the answers instantaneously is helpful and will be required for many questions in order to complete the exam within the time allotted. However, it is most important to be able to know where to find the answers to questions as well, since this is an open-book format exam. Therefore, it is suggested that you have all of your reading materials readily accessible.

Find a place with no distractions, turn off your cell phone and find a clean workspace. Have your reading materials organized for quick access and get ready to ace your exam!

Checklist before you start taking an exam:

  • Quiet place or noise-canceling headphones
  • Turn your phone off
  • Reading materials nearby and easily accessible
